Roll 01Kodak TRI-X of the modern webMichel Grolet

Fifteen sites nobody templated.

Every startup landing page now looks the same: purple gradient, Inter, a pill badge, three feature cards. These fifteen do not. Each one was opened at 1440 × 900 in headless Chrome on 5 September 2026 and printed here exactly as it came back.

Nine frames cut

Competent, every one of them. All of them the same purple gradient or the same dark grid. Nothing here was decided, it was defaulted to.

How the sheet was shot

Chrome, headless, driven over the DevTools protocol rather than the --screenshot flag, because the flag fires before a WebGL scene has painted and hands you a black rectangle. Igloo needed eighteen seconds of virtual time before its ice existed.

Cookie banners were removed by script before the shutter, except PostHog's, which is a joke about the European Commission and earns its place.

What they share

Not a style. Fifteen of them look nothing like each other, which is the point. What they share is that somebody chose: one typeface with a face, one colour that means something, one idea carried all the way through the page instead of a component library carried all the way through the page.

Nine of the cut ones are worth more money than most of the fifteen. It did not help them.
